The Royal Airforce Aerobatic Team, The Red Arrows was initially based at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire. The first team in 1965 had seven display pilots, equipped with the Folland Gnat jet trainer. By the end of the team’s first season, the team had performed 65 displays in Britain, France, Italy, Holland, Belgium and Germany and were awarded the Britannia Trophy by the Royal Aero Club for an outstanding contribution in the field of aviation.
In 1968, the team was increased to nine and adopted the famous Diamond Nine formation, which is now recognised worldwide as the team’s trademark. This appears on many of the products in this catalogue.
In 1980, the Red Arrows changed from the Gnat to the Hawk aircraft, which has taken the team on tours of Eastern and Western Europe, the USA, the Middle and Far East, Africa and Australia - in all, the Red Arrows have displayed in 50 countries.
The Red Arrows are now based in Lincolnshire. There are 9 pilots within the Red Arrows team, with each pilot, including the Leader, staying with the team for three seasons, to ensure maximum expertise is retained from year to year.
The Red Arrows Merchandise Company offers a wide range of high quality Red Arrows branded products - in keeping with the high standard and image of The Red Arrows.
A percentage of all sales is donated to The Red Arrows Trust, which subscribes to many worthwhile charities.
